AP Racing uses the J slot as a signature design on their rotors. The license costs for what we feel is a cosmetic issue would make the rotors cost prohibitive. We're committed to offering these rotors for what we feel is an exceptional value for the performance they offer. Thus, the straight slot was decided on. The slots are machined to taper prior to the edge of the rotor, insuring the durability of the design.

regards,

We've experienced benefits from the slots on track, and feel they are well worth the minimal cost. Blank rotors can be purchased by special order if you're interested.

We have rotors in stock! As others have noted, we went away from the J slot to a straight slot design. You can find them on our website here:

Im with LickyMYwalker on this. Even though you believe there are benefits of the slotted design, it could still be a good idea to stock some blanks at a cheaper price and let the market decide. Considering how the stock sized rotors are such a large consumable on these cars and most of the track guys run blanks because they last the longest and are the cheapest version, you may find some extra interest.

We're only talking a few dollars per rotor - so these will never be competitive with a straight vane blank rotor. That is simply an apples to oranges comparison considering the performance benefits these offer. Consider not only the durability advantage - but also the consistency over the lap produced by the cooler running rotor.

Have you guys tested the wear rate of brake pads with your slotted rotors vs. OEM blanks?

Casually, we have not seen a significantly greater difference in wear. The slots have a slight chamfer, so they do not "scrape" the pad.
