Default Least expensive brake pads?

Hello -

I'm getting geared up for the track season and just splurged on another set of AP1 wheels/tires. I picked up some R compound tires, and I need to buy a set of brake pads that will be used for auto-x and one HPDE event (and driving to/from.) The stock ones will be used as backups.

I found the Cobalt brake pads from the Go Fast Lab, but they are out of the rears...

Thanks,

- Rob

You can go to Cobalts website and order them from there. They're only $85 plus S&H.

They're still out of stock as far as I know. If they had any, we'd have them in stock too.

If you were to put the stock brake pads and Cobalt gt-sports through similar time of use (i.e. hpde, canyons, commuting) would the cobalts be significantly shorter in life for that much better braking than stockies? 70% shorter life etc...

I had the GT Sports on my RSX, and the Hawk HP+ and the Ferado DS 2500 and the Cobalt Spec VR's. Yeah, the RSX went through lots of front brakes due to 64% of the weight being on the front of the car.

All these brakes lasted the same amount of time, about 10,000 miles. The GT Sports were comparable to the Hawk's but with less initial bite, though friendlier on rotors. The GT Sports would start to fade a bit by the end of a 20 minute track session and when overheated, left some pad smearing on the rotor. They do make some noise, though less then the Hawk's.
