Launching AP2
Today I had my first "real" event in the S2000, running on Hoosier A6s. I'm wondering what the best way to launch this car is? On my first run I reved up to around 6500-7000 and slipped the clutch. Got a great launch, but when I got back to the pits, all I could smell was clutch For the rest of the day I was somewhat more conservative, but could still smell burning clutch on occasion (thats to the CDV, I'm sure).
So, how are the experienced AP2 autocrossers launching their cars?
Thanks!

Like the AP1, a drag start requires a high RPM launch and all that implies. I find it interesting that you slipped the clutch and found it usable for the rest of the course - every slip I've had or watched has resulted in no clutch grab for the next 30-60 seconds.
As others have pointed out, some starts don't require the nasty launches so it depends. If you do have a start that benefits from a good launch, NOT launching by dumping the clutch at high RPM will cost you time, at least a half second. And don't forget that you can steer around some/many of the first cones on a turn-after-the-start with spinning tires...

Removing the CDV isn't AS legal, so its staying in. A protest for something like removing the CDV is more that just a weenie protest for sure, a significant performance advantage can be had (because you can launch better).

Don't slip it, dump or fast let up of the clutch with about 5k rpm works fine for 275 A6s.
