better to change the exhaust now than risk being SOL and waste a day by not driving or coasting uphill between turns 5 and 6 to pass sound. Just swap out the exhaust to stock now and go have fun on an awesome track.

Laguna Seca sound readings are very sensitive to the marine cloud cover. I did a day there last December and someone in a stock Boxster S was flagged for sound. The guy said he kept it on sport setting (which I guess opens up the exhaust a bit) and got warned. He went out again when the overcast cleared a bit and got 86ed by the sound police. I'd not take any chances or you might be out a day and some $. Good luck...

Just got back from Speedventures Laguna Seca event (Sat Aug. 18).
Sunny skies (no cloud cover), mid 60's, low 70's in the AM.
AP1 with Snorkel intake, header, straight pipe, J's60RS (single).
Meatballed in 1st session during 1st hot lap: 94.8 dB (92's the limit).
Went into Salinas and found Midas on John St. but couldn't find a solution...
They recommended Mario's Muffler 245 Front St # C Salinas, CA 93901-3605 phone : (831) 783-0358.
Directions from the track:
68 into Salinas, turns into MAIN ST.
RIGHT @ JOHN ST.
Left at FRONT ST.
Go thru 2 lights and just past E. ALISAL ST. there's a compound with many auto service shops/bays...
Mario was just hangin' out on a Sat. morn waiting to save my arse...
He found a piece of heavy bent pipe, flared it a bit so it fit perfectly in the exhaust tip, then welded a nut on the inside so I could install a bolt from the outside through the hole in my exhaust tip...10 minutes + $24 later...
Headed back to the track for the 2nd session & asked for a sound check (out lap, measurement, cool down)...
88 dB!
I was able to use all the track after T5 and swing out wide enough to give the park ranger in the sound shack a high-five as I buzzed by...
Mario is the man...please go see him (uh, if you end up unprepared like me!).
Mike
p.s. ran 6 sessions with this pipe, then when trying to remove it, I twist-SHEARED off the bolt head with my wrench. Welded nut was ok, so I just removed the leftover threaded end. The bolt was really long so I'm guessing it was encrusted with exhaust spuge and seized up.
Next time, I'll try a hardened bolt, trim it so it's not in the hot exhaust stream, & dab some anti-seize. Will also add a second nut/bolt location so the bolts don't see any bending.

You guys think stock intake, ASM 70mm, Toda header, and 70mm testpipe will pass?
