Default Laguna Seca - 90db Sound Restriction

Hello,

I want to attend an event at Laguna, and I've never been.. but I have the following mods:
* Berk 3" test pipe
* Berk 3" single exit exhaust
* K&N FIPK
* F22c k-pro tuned (in an AP1)
* OEM Headers

I highly doubt there's a way for me to meet the 90db sound restriction with this setup.

Considerations:
* What parts could I use to construct a baffled, angled exit tip for the Berk? Would this even help enough?
* I don't have the stock exhaust
* I may have the stock cat
* I guess I could lift at the sound booth

I've done some searches, and haven't seen much info for the Berk setup... I may have to run out and get a sound meter, but I don't think I'll be able to before the event (I travel for work)...

Thanks for your help.

good luck.

definitely ditch the testpipe and the intake.

That said, the berk is pretty loud.

You might be able to construct a dolphin tip attachment to redirect the sound. Anyway, lots of threads on the sound thing.

Thanks man, yeah I've read those. I think I'm SOL... I don't have the stock airbox anymore either.

I did find this - supertrapp slip-on silencing disks http://www.supertrapp.com/resource/faqs.asp

But, I don't believe either the supertrapp or ebay exhaust silencer will be enough, given the K&N intake... 90db is just ridiculous.

We have used super trap to meet exhaust regs with our chumpcar (325 is) with a straight pipe. Its very, very loud otherwise. If you wanna make 90db, I'd use a turned exhaust. Find out where the monitors are on your specific track, and turn the exhaust away. Then, use the add on, end of tailpipe super trap to further muffle. More discs will be quieter.

Two cautions. First, the super trap will reduce HP. Second, make sure it's securely attached, as we've had them fall right off the end of the exhaust.

ap2 asm s special 70mm single, k&n fipk, 63mm test pipe, stock header and I pass with flying colors; I do not ever lift at laguna for sound or otherwise.

lifting @ laguna in an s2k you might as well not go waste gas and tires.

Your berk is going to be way way way too loud. Your best bet is to do the following:
-use a stock exhaust
-or add a resonator to quiet the exhaust in general (btw, if you plan to do thunder hill they are also starting to enforce sound)

keep in mind to get a flag for sound you need to:
- good reading - isolated from other cars (make sure you are in a group to obfuscate the reading)
- fail more than once

Thanks man, I agree, lifting would be lame - are you able to pass the 90db days with the above config? Is the ASM that quiet even cat-less - it seems pretty loud with a testpipe in the videos I've seen? I think I read one of your posts from 2012...

I think the berk has quiet'd down a bit since first install, but I think it'll go beyond the 90db @ 50ft limit. I'm going to try and get an elbow joint, and a silencer, dynatech, or one of those supertrapp contraptions.

it got quieter with a test pipe, at least inside the car

i pass any sound restriction day at laguna

i know even my friends with the evs 70 ssp don't pass

oh one other thing, they do give you leeway with like +2 db; so if it's a 90db day you have to be breaking 92 consistently

If you are to loud, get one of these
http://www.moroso.com/eb/catalog/nav...nuId=main.menu
We used these on open headers(V8) to get under the sound restictionat the tracks we raced at. It will lower the db around 5 db's and not cause any back pressure, and they will sound the same five years from now because there is nothing to burn out.

My car is an AP2 with stock exhaust, a Berk high flow cat, and K&N FIPK. Will that pass 92 db limit?
