Kumho V710's life (In terms of # of runs)
I was wondering what is the longetivity of the Kumho V710's for autocross in regular asphalt conditions (not concrete) in terms of runs.
My current V710's have 54 autocross runs on them and they seem to have some more life in them (12 were on Concrete). I am trying to figure out how many more championships they have left on them. As a comparison, my Hoosiers had about 65 runs on them before I retired them but they were done at that point.
Are they more or less durable than the Hoosiers?
Thanks,
Kathy

That's gonna be hard to answer since it depends on so many things (driver, pressures, exact surfaces, course, temperatures, etc.). I only do ~10 events a year and I usually go through one set of tires in that time (the fronts have much mor tread left compared to the rears). I have ~30 runs on mine and feel that I have about half the life gone but that's a guess at best.
All accounts I've seen indicate that they'll last longer than Hoosiers but not as long as the Victoracers. So far, I'd agree...

Hey Kathy! That sounds like pretty good life on the 710s.
I have "ghetto 710s"...I just broke in my Victoracers. This is them after almost 2 and a half months, with about 40+ runs and daily driving...
I'd LOVE to get 710s, but unless Tirerack is going to sponsor a Vixen Racing tire trailer/pit boy combo...I'll be going back to street tires in 2 weeks.

A Z06 driver that runs in event's out here said he got 106 runs on his! He said they had heat cycled out by about 65 runs (keep in mind we tend to get ~6 runs an event in NY/NJ). That's a fairly quick driver in a heavier car (but with more rubber on the ground).
I've sort of ruined my fronts in about 40 runs since I've driven about 20 runs without ABS and have flatspotted one of them in a few places badly. The rears look amazing, they'll heat cycle out before the rubber goes.

FWIW, Annie and I have been running takeoffs from the 968 we're campaigning this year. Fortunately the sizes are the same for that car as our '04 S2K. We're running 245/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rears and they have been wearing incredibly well.
As for the comments that they go off, I wouldn't doubt that, however we've been running ours down to the point that you can't see any grooves in the tire, and I've been able to take top Pax a couple of times now at our local events. For those that don't know who we have out here in the Seattle area, we're running against people like Joe Goeke, Glen Hernandez, Alan Dahl, Kevin Dietz, Tom Kotzian, Fast Mike Lillejord, etc. Not an easy bunch.
Also, we're still on stock shocks on the car. Just running a Comptech bar at one off of full stiff. Tire pressures are 30 all the way around.
I'd say we're easily getting over 100 runs total, and this includes some concrete runs. Of course that said, I've never been one to count runs....
