Default Kuhmo v710s for front B stock

I'm getting ready to autocross for the first time on R-comps. I have been running RE-01Rs for the past 2 seasons. Do I need to order 245/40 or 245/45 size v710s for the front to go with the 275/40R17 for the rear?

Will the 40 series diameter be too much and make the antilock brakes kick on? Which tire size do you guys recommend.

Car information:
Gendron FSB on 5th stiffest hole (only 1 higher setting left)
Mugen AP2 Exhaust
Everything else stock.
These will be on stock AP2v1 wheels.

Thanks!

I'm a newb so I can't answer your question, but I just wanted to say:

Woot, John's in trouble this year, eh? Go get him, Dale!

I'm switching to R-comps too. I ran stock sized street tires all of last year.
I'm going with the 245/40 & 275/40 combo.

The stock front 215/45 has a 24.61" overall diameter.
A 245/40 is 24.71" and a 245/45 is 25.68".
No real world experience with these sizes, but I think you will want to stay as close to the stock O.D. as possible.
Hopefully somebody that has ran these will chime in. Any reason why you want the taller sidewall?

The 245/45/17 will rip out your fender liner plugs regularly. I am not sure why you would want to run a taller front tire that is no wider anyway.

I am running 245/40/17s both front and rear FWIW. I did extensive testing last year and found I liked them best for my setup and driving style.

Thanks for that bit of info. My fender liners are not in great shape, but it is good to know I'll rip them out.

The only reason I can think of to run the taller tire is to keep the OD close to the same front and rear. I was afraid that the smaller tire would throw the ABS on due to the computer thinking the car is out of control b/c the rotational speeds would be different.

Did you ever do the 245/40 front and 275/40 rear during your testing?

I've run 285/30/18 front and 295/30/18 rear as well as 285/30/18 front and 315/30/18 rear.

The Honda ABS system is pretty good and you won't have significant problems with the different diameter tires.

Especially with more contact patch in the rear.

That is what I ran most of last season. Never had any issues with ABS. I don't know anyone who has had ABS issues in stock with an S2000. I do know the stock pads suck when coupled with Hoosiers. I will be upgrading to a bit more aggressive pad for this year.

I went from V710s to A6s ... will never go back. Just something you may want to reconsider.

I thought about the Hoosiers but the Kumhos were cheaper and suppost to last longer, so I thought for my first set I would get these.

What about the A6s do you like so much better?

Everything? It's amazing how quickly Kumho disappeared from the national-level autocross scene once they dropped their contingency.

The Kumhos last longer before they cord, but assuming you can get enough camber (which S2000s can), they don't last any longer before they heat cycle out and get slow.
