Default Koni's?

I've read about how people are using Koni Yellows with great results.

In my last couple of cars, I've used the Tokico Illumina gas shocks with great results. I liked the feel and the adjustability of them for street and track use.

I'm running in B Stock catagory and looking to use the OEM springs with a set of adjustables. Would the Koni's make for a superior upgrade to the OEM's (without making the ride too harsh)?

What's the range in adjustment versus OEM? Can they be as subtle as the OEM's while being able to be set for something a bit more aggressive for SCCA use?

TIA.

When I was looking at shocks I saw a HUGE price jump from Koni's to the next best thing. It wasn't worth it to me. So the decision was easy. I can't say about the high dollar shocks having never driven an S2K with them but with the koni's I found a softer more controlable car. We never managed to solve the Inside rear wheel spin problem and suffered from it horribly on Concrete. But it obviously didn't hurt me too bad. You don't need doubles to win. You just have to make up for it in driving.

Can the Koni's be adjusted stiffer than stock? I've read conflicting stories here....

They will be stiffer than stock with upgraded springs.
The BS autoX guys can't upgrade their springs.

As for the Koni's I feel the rear is more planted. I was going to play with spring rates, but I found that different tire pressures, alignment, and using different stiffness F/R to help me dial everything in.

And a HUGE thanks to Mr. Davepk.

Ask mark Allen, He had his Koni's re-valved stiffer at nationals. Tausha drove the car and I never talked to him to see if he liked it better. I don't know if Mark has Autoxed the car yet. i would probably see him in a few weeks in ft.myres but I had a little knee injury in a soccer game last night and it looks like the next time I'll be able to drive will be febuary. And that depends on what they tell me about surgery on wednesday.

Are there any cheaper alternatives to Koni's that still offer some of the performance benefits?
