Anyone experience this with the Comptech adjustable bar? I don't notice it at speed but when traveling at slow speed, in the pits for example, I get a knocking when I hit bumps or uneven surfaces. It soulds like the inner and outer bars knocking against one another. I've reinstalled the bar and checked all the endlinks, pre-load etc.

I recall a post a few months back about running more than one bolt in the bar. Could this be a fix? I've contacted Comptech but have yet to hear back.

Any help would be appreciated!

You ain't alone. I've got mine at full stiff and I've developed creaks and groans. It's definitely not the bar pieces knocking together - it sounds like the Teflon tape isn't enough to provide lubrication. I may back it off one hole for street use...

Thanks for the reply.....good to know I'm not alone.

Are you running the stock endlinks?

Mack,
You're definitely not alone. Ever since new, my bar knocked/clunked as well - I wouldn't classify it as a creak or groan. More like a sharp vibration that could be felt through the pedals. The source wasn't evident until I took the bar off, where I found it had a "wiggle" - if you held one end of the bar, you could wiggle the other end a bit due to slop in the coupling.

It was never a problem at the autox/track but at low speeds its randomness of appearance was rather unnerving.

I went from running one to two bolts and it made no difference in the clunk, only in the stiffness of the bar.

jzr-

That's exactly what I'm experiencing. I guess it's not a big deal. I'd rather have the stiff bar with a clunk than nothing.......

JZR-

Are you sure about it being two seperate bars. It was my understanding that the inner and the outer were welded togeteher at the point nearest the bolt hole for the softest setting. You can actually see the weld if yo look closely. I dont recall any play in mine before installation without the bolt in place ie the ability to seperate the two.

Maybe your bar had failed at the weld reflecting your need for a second bolt.

Just a thought......

My knocking didn't begin until I started running on full stiff. Prior to that it was slilent.
