Kart Racing
Last weekend some friends and I entered a 6 hour kart endurance race at Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte. The race was set up by a company called Endurance Karting
www.endurancekarting.com
and consists of 20 to 25 teams of 3 to 5 drivers in identical 11 HP Honda engined karts made by an Italian company called Dino. It was truly a riot and I actually learned a great deal in the process.
The karts are very evenly matched and the racing was quite intense yet fun. Without a suspension to soften communication between the road, the driver, and the steering wheel, being smooth was essential to setting a good pace. Timing was electronic and the race was well run. They hold events all over the east coast and I highly recommend it as a great, inexpensive, safe way to get a ton of seat time.

We ran a similar event at Norway Speedway this past summer here in IL... My team won by a whole lap even after a last-lap spin (Brad - ) We would have won by two laps! The team was myself, Brad, my ex-roomate (and natural talent galore karter) Sean and our friend Dan. It was very fun and quite intense. I'd do it again whenever I get the chance.
How are the roads, Orif? Looks like I might be getting an '01 748s to replace my Monster! I've ridden it quite a bit lately (a good friend's) and I love it. I've logged about 3500mi. on two wheels between all the racing. Thanks again for those road tips in Asheville!

Hi Jason,
If you wanted to protect your racing budget for 2002, you should never have ridden that bike! I love that motorcycle even more than the 996. Sounds like you are having a lot of fun with your Ducati. Bring the bike down here next time along with the S and we'll have a ball!
