Now how are you going to finish off the interior?

That seems to be the biggest hassle in upgrading bars in the S2k, all the plastic covers aren't easily modified and it is costly to build new ones.

If you have any probs with clearance when you add padding consider Longacre's new stick on padding. You just apply it to the side that needs it, not all the way around. That might buy you another inch in heigth. They are out of stock for 2 more weeks.

If that doesn't get you there just do a search for HD mini roll bar padding

cthree,

Can you elaborate a little, please? I'm not familiar with the SCCA guidelines for roll cages, so I'm uncertain what would not be in accordance with their requirements.

I'm guessing it's something to do with tubing diameter/thicknes and/or the lack of rear bars to absorb any loads that could cause the cage to fold towards the back. I would also surmise that cage height might be an issue.

Can you clarify? Thanks!

there are several levels of the SCCA requirement for cages and roll-bars. This cage will probably need a few more bars for wheel to wheel racing (x-bars or nascar bars), but for open track and time trial, the cage will qualify albiet some type of racing bucket seat for helmet clearance. Because in order for the soft top to work with the cage in, it's max'd out in height. There is so little clearance for door bars that it wouldn't be practical for door bars unless the car is a dedicated track car. As soon as my fabricator decides to finish the cage and it's fully complete, poweder coated and all, I will post pictures of the three version available, from Main roll hoop replacement complete with harness bar to 4 point cage and finally a 6 pt. version. Pricing will be dependent on a group buy that I will arrange with cthree and get some kind of s2ki.com pricing...where every cage sold will contribute to the website. My guess is that there will have to be a minium of 5 orders set, of any version in order to get the ball rolling. I will come up with the complete details very soon. hang tight guys!

Wow... pretty smart idea about pulling off the a-pillar cover! I would be pretty interested.... i think the Honda-challenge (NASA, not SCCA) says you need 6 point, so I guess the back pieces would need to be there too.
