Default Install of Harness w/o H-bar

Alright guys, I recently purchased a racing seat. Installed it at the lowest possible setting, and passed the broom test by 1.5-2 inches. I'm thinking about getting a 5 point harness and am wondering what the experts thought.

1. Should I get it, or is there not enough clearance for it to be safe.

2. How would I mount the harness without having a roll bar with harness bar.

3. Would anyone recommend a G-Force 5 point harness?

Safety is my biggest concern, and am aware of the danger associated with a slack job on a project like this. Thanks for the input in advance.

This is the biggest problem.

Strip out your interior and weld in a 6 pt cage. You know you want to

My expert opinion is that you should probably consult an expert for advice

You have no other choice than to bolt or weld in a bar. And opt for a 6 point instead of a fifth....to properly mount the 5th you've got to go straight down in the center of where the seat is and Honda put a fuel line right under the sheetmetal. With a 6 point harness, you can mount the 5th and 6th points to the sheetmetal that the front two seat bolts bolt into.

I kinda figured this would be the response I got. I am not blind folded by any Ricer or JDM image as some would expect. I simply want what's safest and legal. I figured there was no easy way to mount the shoulder straps at the appropriate angle (like 12-18 degrees I think). The seat holds me extremely well, so the 5-6 point harness is a bonus if it could work. I guess I'll just wait for the next Elda Bar to be released. Thanks for the input guys.

I'm not sure if your satisfied with the answers or not. To recap: No, you can't, no.

If you're driving on the street, you'll be safest if you do not add an aftermarket rollbar & harness. Instead, use the excellent OEM system composed of 3-point seatbelt with pre-tensioners and airbags.

I'll reiterate some key points:

It is not safe to mount shoulder straps without a strong connection in the right place - about level or slightly lower than your shoulders. This also requires a race seat for proper routing, and secure mounting of the sub-straps to the floor pan with the use of backing plates.

Having a roll bar in the car increases the risk of head trauma in the event of common accident types. Do not install one unless you are running on the track and pushing hard. Rollbar padding is not sufficient protection for an un-helmeted head.

The OEM restraint system is extremely effective. The OEM roll hoops provide some protection in the rare occurrance of a rollover.

I'm aware of the danger involved with using a roll bar w/ or w/o padding in a street car where I wouldn't be wearing a helmet. I'm just wondering how dangerous it would be for me being as tha with an Elda bar, I don't think my head would be within 10inches of the bar. I'm pretty set on using the factory 3 point until I get a Roll bar w/ H bar now. I just wanted some input from others that are more educated in the topic than I am.

Now with my lower seating position, I think the stock roll hoops are even more useful in case of a roll over.

Pictures for reference.

Take another pic with a helmet on.
