Great suggestions from the guys about fire safety. Definitely something to look into. And also about the hard top.
Cool man! Yeah I agree the fire protection would be very nice. I need to check out suits. Those things are not cheap that's for sure! But that's the price for protecting yourself. You can't really put a price on that.

Yeah I just started researching suits. Do you drive with gloves?

Yeah I do. I have some kind of cheap Simpson gloves but i need new ones. I also drive with Alpinestars driving shoes which are awesome! So that's all the fire protection I have.

I just got some Sparco TIDE gloves today. I'm anxious to try them out. Right now I drive with my DC skate shoes and they work great, but I should probably look into some real FIA fire resistant shoes soon too.

Yeah, plus you'll have much better feel with proper driving shoes.

If you get a hard top for protection, get Izzy's solid mounts instead of latches.

Also consider a "Halo" type seat to protect your head from side impacts.

I won't buy any other type of race seat. I've only been in two car accidents in my life and I injured my head in one and my neck in another. Nothing severe, just a concussion one time and a very sore stretched neck in the other. A halo seat would have prevented both injuries. A HANS would have done nothing.

Check eBay and eBay UK for race suits. You can sometimes find top end used F1 crew suits for about the same price as a new middle of the road Sparco or Aplinestars.

For example:

I've seen newer suits go for less than this. Its $700 after shipping and exchange rate, FYI.
