Default Increasing my car's safety.

Hey guys. I have been thinking about the safety of my car and how I can improve it with what I currently have if possible.

I currently have a Harddog rollbar, Schroth 6-point harness, Recaro SPG, Buddy Club seat rail, and Safety Solutions R3 Rage.

I have been considering is my having my seat rail welded to be a little more solid since I have heard they aren't welded too well. I have also considered having the slider welded in order to make it a fixed rail. I installed my harness completely to my car, so my harness working properly does not rely on my seat rails.

I have also been considering having my rollbar welded in. It is the completely welded, lowered harness bar version.

Thanks guys! Your input is appreciated

Fire suppression? SFI 5 suit, gloves, nomex underwear, full facial head sock/balaclava, at your level, I'd be more worried about fire than impact protection.

Kill switch?

This link has a lot of good information on building a car to wheel to wheel spec...seems that'd be a little safer.

^ I agree, fire protection, since you're pretty well protected from a rollover. Passive fire safety equipment is relatively cheap.

Have you considered a hardtop in case there is a rollover? No softtop framing flying around that could potentially hurt you.

Thanks for the really good suggestions guys.

I actually never have considered a hardtop for it's safety benefits

I would replace the BC seat rail with a better one or re-weld the welds on it. A lot of people have had problems with the welds on those being poor quality (myself included)

'09S2K - I'm sort of in the same position as you right now. We have pretty much the same safety gear coincidentally.

Great suggestions from the guys about fire safety. Definitely something to look into. And also about the hard top.

I will definitely look into that. I really don't want to pull it back out but i will if i have to. I wonder what can be done with it remaining installed...
