Default HPDE insurance

This seems like it might be valuable to some of us:

http://www.americancollectorsins.com/de_policy.htm

Agreed value insurance for driver's education events, 20% deductable, costs $15/year/$1000 value. Not available in every state.

Heard of 'em secondhand. They were recommended to me as a possible option by an HPDE company.

Can't speak as to whether they're any good, as they don't (or didn't when I checked) insure in my state. I can say that when I emailed them asking whether they had any future plans for insuring in Alabama I received no response at all.

I like that the pricing structure is based upon a sliding scale of value. Basically you are paying solely for an insurance rider on your perceived value.

It is good to see companies like this starting up. As more and more standard insurance companies plant clauses in their policies about coverage exemptions if accident happens at track schools.

There is a need for it.

I'd love to see a copy of their standard policy to see if they have any "outs" built in to avoid payment on claims...

I'm with Liberty Mutual insurance. I specifically went with them because they cover anything that is NOT racing... I asked about driving schools at a race track... the agent said fine as long as it's not wheel to wheel racing. Quite a few people I work with have the same coverage with the same agent.

That being said... the chances of making a claim for anything less than a total write off are slim by the nature of things.

I made a claim for what turned out to be $23K on a HPDE accident in May. My regular insurance co. covered it (and they knew it was an HPDE, too). However, not all insurance co.s will, and it may be cheaper anyway if you can avoid making a claim against your regular insurance.

This is just another option.

I sent them an email and they said that the coverage applies at any track in the US, but not Canada (I sometimes do events in Canada). It does not cover you when driving on the street, but it does cover a daily driver during HPDEs.

According to their policy, you must be at least 26 yrs old to make a claim (16yrs old + 10 yrs experience). Am I reading that right?
