Default HKS Coilovers assistance

I have the Hipermax sport III and I understand that they come pretty setup from factory. The issue is, I would like the car to sit a little lower but the rears are already as low as it can go from the factory. I understand my options are to remove the helper spring and lower it that way with either replacing the springs to a stiffer one to compensate for the loss of the helper springs or not. I can also just change the preload and adjust the height of the pirch, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea.

Any help / suggestions would be great.

That's interesting that the rears are already at their lowest point. I just installed Max IV SP's on my car and it came with a sheet that denoted where the front and rears are preset from the factory, and what the range of adjustment is for height increase or decrease. Did you get any such sheet?

I did not get that. It did seem odd that it was at the lowest from the factory

How much lower would you say it is compared to stock? Without adjusting my ride height at all, I had a drop of approximately 1.5 inches all around. Are you seeing more than this? If so, perhaps they did come set at the lowest height from factory, which would definitely be odd.

I would say 1-1.5 in drop at the most. I'll post a pic of the car soon.

If you reduce your preload you will lower the car. You can reduce preload to the point the helper springs are at full extension at full droop. I would try this first. Typically stiff springs don't need much or any preload. Preload is used to set the shock stroke static sag position, then you use the height adjust to set the chassis height.

Thanks Rob. I will try that and see how it goes. Something that I just thought of, this only goes for the rears, I do believe I can adjust the height of the front without touching the preload setting. Do you think it's wise to just adjust the tears preload or should I do that to all four corners (not sure how that will affect the cars handling, if any).

Personally I'd just do the rears and see how the car feels. If anything felt "off" I'd try to match the preload in the front. If I had to make a pretty big change in the rear then I would do the same in the front but it sounds like you just need a little more lowering so you might not have to mess with the fronts.

Here is the car's height. This is unchanged from the factory.
