I prefer the pay-over-time plan, thank you I'm thinking you're going through tires faster on a road course than at AX, too, so I was also factoring that in. Are you running at TMS?

He's keeping a running total of the replies. I thought as a group we'd be well over 3 years by now

I feel your pain, brother. It would totally suck to have such a boring, nondescript track as your home track.

After 55 days out there, do you actually have the whole thing memorized?
No kidding, it's quite an experience.

But it was refreshing to drive on LeMans where I could get closer to the limits without killing myself as the runoff is infinitely more generous there.

Memorised as in knowing where the track goes, where the camber differences and bumps are, and several alternate lines. I wouldn't consider myself to be an experienced Ringer, though, and can feel myself learning new stuff every day.

Estimates:

65 DAYS spent at HPDE events (not racing, not auto-x)
20 off-track-excursions with no damage
1 off-track-excursions with minor damage (up to $1500)
0 off-track-excursions with moderate damage (up to $10,000)
0 off-track-excursions with severe damage (more than $10,000)

I really don't remember how many track days I've done, but the SV database says I've done 49 days with them, so the 65 is a good guess.

The 1 off track with damage was a bent wheel, not car damage, but I figured I'd include it. Not included was a lot of mechanical damage like a rebuilt engine, etc, caused by wear or bad parts.

What I've learned from my time on track / watching people on track is that the reality of track days and damage is it's 99.99% up to you whether you leave with damage. If you know your limits, you can drive a lot of events with no damage. If you don't, the Pain Train's a comin', and it can be costly That and you've got to keep your eyes on your mirrors, and know who's around you on track.

On that note, I find that newbies to the track fall in 2 categories A) So paranoid they drive in their mirrors the entire time, and are dangerous B) So oblivious they don't' notice you've been right behind them for 4 laps, waiting for a point by. Somewhere in the middle is where you want to be

Yep, standard procedure on the Ring for novices is to either drive only in the mirrors or be totally oblivious and think that they're Schumacher. This includes those with supercars and egos to match and won't let a more experienced driver in a Golf 2 GTI by. Then they come across the Adenauer Forst blind chicane and end up driving through the grass! Spectators are never disappointed at that section.

1 HPDE
1 OTE w/No dammage

Missed my apex on turn 6 at Gingerman. I was heading toward the edge of the track with the wheels point in an awkward direction. I knew I wasn't going to save it, and was about to straighten out the wheels when my instructor confirmed my thoughts and told me to go straight off.

I think I was a little too paranoid with my S2000.
