I looks to me that the seat belt retractor has moved inboard (closer to the car's centerline), reducing how much the seat belt can be pulled out. Does this affect shorter drivers that have their seats farther forward?

So is the safest SCCA legal Hard Dog solution that retains factory seats as well as a harness:

- S2000 Roll Bar = $550
- Welded Diagonal = $55
- Welded Lowered Harness Bar = $55
- Shoulder Harness Guide Brackets = $60
- Stock Seat Belt Reel Mounting Bar = $175
- Formed Pad Only = $45

= $940

I may go this route, but given the price, I may go with a custom welded solution.

I vote yes.

I don't think a custom welded solution will be cheaper. However, if you don't need your solution to fit under a soft top, you might go the custom route to get better bar angles.

That's what I'm thinking. CR so no soft top. Custom may be a bit more money, but will theoretically give me better angles, safer, and I imagine easier to turn into a full cage if I ever decide to go W2W. Now that I know that's what I'd theoretically pay for a Hard Dog bar, I can get some quotes for a custom roll bar and figure out what makes the most sense for me.

Got mine in. Seems to work perfect, although as mentioned, the seatbelt reels are moved. It is slightly "harder" to buckle yourself in and doesn't retract as smoothly, but seems to be a great solution.

The reels are sensitive to the angle in front view. If you don't get it just right, you'll trip the inertia reel when you pull the belt. Check the angle on the OEM bulkhead for reference (yours looks to be a little flat-ish, though it just may be the angle on the pic). Also, check that the belt is exiting as straight and as 90 deg "normal" to the reel (i.e. not twisted). Hope that helps...

I am sorry if this has been addressed before, but it seems like Hard Dog came out with this piece so that people who already have the Hard Dog roll bar, can retrofit and have their OEM seat belts back without having to retain their bulkhead.

But, is there any reason why they couldn't just weld that same bracket on the horizontal harness bar to save weight from the redundant bar?

Well, it's hard to see in the picture, but the harness bar is way back. Not sure if stock seat belt rolls would function properly.
