Default GT500 Hood Vent

A friend of mine used this hood vent on his SRT8 and I thought it looked pretty good so I decided to give it a try today.

Approximately four months ago, I did some testing using a manometer and found the greatest pressure differential of 0.06psi to be 16.5" back from the front of the hood at 60mph. I centered the hood vent on this point.

I am hoping that it will bring coolant temps down and subsequently oil temps. It also happens to match the car quite well IMO.

I ended up having to grind the factory mounting clips and front catch bracket completely off and rivet the vent on. I'm sure you could make them work if you spent some time and attention to detail on the project but I am rather impatient with things like this.LoL

Anyways, just figured I would share with fellow racers that are looking for a functional hood vent that looks okay as well as well as my test data.

I like it! I've been thinking of how to get a function vent on my hood I'll be interested in your findings on reducing temps.

I really like it. I think it looks good and might be functional. Try to put some yarn on it just to see the air flow. I'm really interested to see the result.

BTW, how much is that hood vent?

Mine was $88 shipped.

I attached some ribbon on the vent and it works.

I want to measure differential pressure at the same location again to measure the difference vs no vent. I don't see how it could be negative given the pressure differential before the vent was near the maximum dynamic pressure of air at 60mph.

Nice! I remember us talking about using that vent in various projects a few years back. Can you take a picture from the underside of the hood? Curious to see where it lines up relative to the underhood skeleton. It looks to be pretty close to the location of my venting. Any issues with interference with the stock airbox?

Will do.

It did remove the factory hood prop hole so I will need to make another one. That entire rib is gone.
