Well, hurry up and decide how you're going to tackle the latches! I'm still not happy about the whole deal, but I'll proceed. And it's not like I bought a brand new one- this one needs some work($$$).

Cut off the handle and weld a nut on, we have to do this with our custom rollbars as well. Asura's custom bar that we built is like this. There really is not a very good way around this unless you want to make the bar design even more compromised. You can always weld the handle back on if you return your car back to stock. It's a lot easier to do than filling all the holes you just drilled into your car...

Noob here so please don't flame me! I am having somebody else do the actual roll bar install, but I am trying to remove the trim pieces myself.
Is it easier to remove the rear tray with the soft top up?
