Good Camera Mount
I am looking for a good camera mount for video taping my track days from in car. Any suggestions? I browsed around, but couldn't find an obvious thread. The search seems to be off-line. If there is another thread please point me to it and close this one, thanks.

I have experience with the Ricks mount. I've been using one since before Rick picked it up from ZTEC (3 years). It works great! I mount a bullet cam to it and just keep the camcorder packaged up behind the seat. I use a lan-c control to control the camcorder and an external amplified mic.

You can make one yourself for about $50-60. And you can do it in minutes, literally.
Get a piece of slotted angle from Home Depot or Lowes. All you need is one about 12" long. I think mine is 2" wide. Get a Bogen tripod head, model # 484RC2 Mini Ball head, this one:
Just insert a 1/4" - 20 countersink screw in one of the holes in the slotted angle, attach the triopd head and presto! You have yourself a camera mount. If you want to go even cheaper, get a tripod head from Ritz Camera. They have a tabletop model that you can take the head off of and put it on the slotted angle piece. However, this tripod head isn't as beefy, thus you end up w/ shakier video. The 484 head or one like it is the way to go. Good luck.

I have a complete setup with an Mp Tuning mount, Bogen quick release (Same as pictured above, but without the ball mount), wide angle lens, and a JVC VHS-C camera that I may be selling within the next month. The mount bolts in where the windscreen normally sits, in between the seats. With the wide angle lens, I get the full width of the windshield plus the shifter and the steering wheel in the image.
If you don't have a camera now and are interested in the package, let me know.

I have the mount from Rick's and it works great!
I know that I could have gotten or made something a cheaper, but I really like the looks of this mount, and I get compliments everytime I install it. With the S2000, I tend to spend a little extra for the looks, but if it were for my CRX, then I go on the cheap. ;-)
Also, it came with everything that I needed to get going. I sometimes don't like or have the time to go through the trouble of gathering all the goodies and then put it together. I guess, I'm a little lazy that way. :-)
BTW, I highly suggest getting a wide-angle lens. With this I get a-pillar to a-pillar and from the top of my windshield to the shifter. Excellent for showing all my mistakes. -heh -heh
