It looks like you had fun, nonetheless.
was that camera mounted at the visor screws?
I rigged up a little sumpn sumpn like that also. It works great, but no visual of the tach or speedo. The nice thing is it gets your hand placement in the video, which is always cool.

I just drilled a hole in the middle of the compartment lid for the mounting screw. Simple and cheap. My home made bumper mount is very similar to the one being sold in the Group Buy forum. I need to get a wide angle lens.

I save first for hairpins and reverses. If you are at 8.5 in first, I think you should be in second. I find second is fine right down to 5k. Running slaloms in first sucks!

I found in most practice courses, when I had a bunch of laps to find the fastest way, I was better off in most iffy situations by leaving it in 2nd and just working the smoothness to carry more speed. I would take advantage of hairpin braking to downshift into 1st (has to be a really slow turn) but there's still a penalty for the inevitable upshift.

That said, there were just some courses that I just hated, always out of the power band. And then the sun would shine another day and you'd linger near 8K RPM.

You know, having more power is an endless quest. As I get better auto-x'ing the Z06 I notice more and more locations I'm back at WOT. I suspect only a top fuel response would satisfy any of us at those times. Maybe an A-Mod car...
