Don't get me wrong, I do a lot of downshifting. Some of the autocross courses I run actually require 4th gear. I just find the 1st gear synchros to be really sucky.

I don't autocross with SCCA. Our local BMWCCA has long, fast courses. I don't think I've been quite to 100.

If anyone can host a video, I could show exactly what I am talking about. It is a 43 second run and I take a turn before entering a slalom. I shift into second before the turn to settle the car. I also downshift into 1st a at least twice (my car has no problem with this).

OMG, that is a crazy big and fast "AutoX" course. Looks more like roadracing to me! Wish our courses were like that, things really are bigger in Texas.

GEEZ MAN!!!
BLOODY EXCELLENT!!
That video is 1:45 long!!!

(catching my breath)

...and I heard alot of 3rd gear quite often!!
I barely ever touch 3rd gear, and when I do, it's just that...a touch, then I'm back down to second.
I did notice there was no apparent slippage of the derrier?
Nice and smooth.

I'M MOVING TO TEXAS!!

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but after the "no apparent slippage of the derrier" and "Nice and smooth" comments...

http://www.ntpog.org/gallery/movies/greg2.mpg

Obviously different events, but with the same club. I took FTD at both events, but this video was obviously not the winning run.

Lift throttle over steer. Well, looks like you had fun anyway.
