So, do I understand correctly as follows:
As long as I am on stock tires, I should keep the bar at a setting which approximates the stock setup.
I have R tires--Michelin Pilot Sport Cup; not an aggressive R, but probably a good deal stickier than the stock RE050s, in 255/40-17 and 225/45-17. When I use these, I will be better off using the bar on a stiffer setting.
The correct setting will be a matter of feel.
For the track, as opposed to autocross, I may again have to put the bar on its softest setting.

I wouldn't suggest loosening the bar for the track, especially because the car generates lift at speed. A neutral handling car at 50mph becomes oversteerish at 100mph... I just mentioned that I run mine that way, but again, I'm not on a stock suspension. Start stiffer, the bar is easy to adjust if it's too stiff.

So, I got the bar on Friday, installed it on Saturday (boy, could it use some more detailed, illustrated instructions!), and did an autocross on Sunday. Phew.
I set it on the fourth of six settings. The car felt very good on Sunday, with my PSCs (the first time I've used the tires in an autox; I used them on the track for the first time last Monday). I'm not experienced enough to really be able to compare, but it just felt more planted, with the rear end swinging only if I asked it to, and only a little bit then. No understeer that I noticed (Steve, I tried not to overdrive into corners, apparently with some success). There were several sharp turns, and the car behaved perfectly. That was a nice change.
Next stop is a two-day track school several hundred miles away. I'll drive there on the stock RE050 tires, and change to the PSCs there. Should I keep the bar at the same setting? Some folks seem to suggest that I should soften it a bit, while others suggest that it should be stiff.
Finally, I don't drive at all aggressively on the road. Is there any reason to set the bar softer when I'm not doing a track event or an autocross?
Thanks.
