First time at the track - Best 1/4 mile: 15.8 seconds? What's wrong with me?
Just got back from running my first 1/4 mile event...
The elevation was high (about 2800 ft), temperatures were pretty cold (60 degrees), and I had about 250 pounds of non-contributing weight in my car.
Results: first time I bogged a 3000rpm launch, second I had a smooth 3500rpm launch, and third time I hopped around for a half second on a 7000rpm clutch dump.
But the funny thing is, all three times were between 15.8 and 15.9, and all three trap speeds were between 88 and 90 mph!
I'm running stock everything...
any suggestions?
BTW, I still won all three races!

When I launch my S during an autox, I do a 6-7k rpm start. Anything lower really bogs my motor.
Trying practicing smoother releases for 6-7k...maybe let the clutch slip a liitle. Are you using stock (street) tires?

was this at LACR?
boy I hate that track. I have actually run my S2000 there once... best I could do was a 15.1@94. It was cold and slick as could be. I couldnt even get off the line with anything other than wild wheelspin. And no... .I was not even trying to do a 6k rpm clutch dump. This was by trying to feather it at much lower RPM. The tires would spin off the line... I'd let up, the then the bog would come in... then when the cams would switch the wheels would break loose again. If I didnt baby the shift to 2nd I'd get really bad wheelspin again. I could even get a little wheelspin on the 2-3 shift!!! I couldnt believe it. I kept thinking "give me a break.. this car ain't *that* powerful. ug.

I was out at lacr for idrc event on saturday, saw a nice silver wrx pull a 13.35, couple other wrx's getting 14.5-6. I've heard that track is pretty slow though - lots of complaints about it from pro drivers. When are you going to hit it again?
