Extended Wheel Studs
#12
so do you meen to tell me that a car with 4000 miles needs a new bearing because of a extended stud insall? thats false info. you absolutly do not need to replace the bearing just because. replacing the bearing depends on each vehicles situation. ie.miles, wear and tear (you can tell if the bearing is in question by some warning sighns; a whining or a sound resembling grinding breaks ect. jack the vehicle up on the side in question as so the wheel is hanging freely. grab the tire w/ 2 hands and try to rock it side to side and up and down. if you feel free play its time) but other than that you can go ahead with the pressing of the hub from knuckel, install the studs and re-press the hub/bearing back in. unfortunatly this job has to be done useing a press which is not common in a diy garage., however breaking down the knuckel yourself and then bringing just that to the mechanics can save you hundreds through all 4. one very key point is during the breakdown do not disconect the abs senser plug just unbolt it. and also the locknut will be a 36mm. to remove it, and if you dont have air tools, (front hub esp.) you will need a cheater bar for leverage and next stick a screw driver in the vents of the brake rotor so it locks up against the caliper.(this will enable you to try to break the nut loose. make sure to be easy around your fenders with this. lastly after you have it off try to tie wire the brake caliper to something so it doesnt have to hang by the hose. use a ball joint remover to pop all 3 ball joints loose. remove hub. i hope this info hels someone in some way sorry for my poor spelling ect.
