I'd like a wheel that's strong, comes in 17x10 +42ish and clears a bbk, and costs less than $1500 for a set. I'm willing to sacrifice weight just as long as it doesn't weigh over 21 lbs.
I'd like a RWD NA 2-seater that weighs 2000 pounds and makes 400ft lbs of torque, but costs under $25,000....
Thanks for adding nothing useful to this thread so far...

Light weight / strong / cheap.... pick two.

I've done that, I'm sacrificing light weight. BBK clearance is a matter of looks/spoke design, and with a +42ish offset, that's not too hard to achieve. I don't care if the wheel doesn't have a "lip"
[/quote]

There is no rule that you get to pick "two." Especially if you put an upper limit on your "lightweight."
I can get you a set of steel wheels that are strong and under $1500.

Track is expensive. Is that a surprise? I would be very impressed if you could get a 17x10 under 21 pounds for under $400 a wheel. To me it seems unrealistic at that price point.

So my contribution is that: "I think you're being unrealistic at that price point." I would pay $2000 or $2500 for that set of wheels because the nearest options are $2700-3200.

^^^ you're asking for FOUR things and you also didn't say pick two.

Additionally another useless post that helps no one... again.

If this is a thread for a group buy about making requests, that's what we're doing and asking for.

If I'm willing to shell out $3000+ for a set of wheels then I have all sorts of options - volk, bbs, fikse, kinesis, ccw, etc. Etc.

Just like buying a car. If you have $150k to spend you'll probably find some that you like...

And yes, thank you again Mr. Useless posts

The whole point of this thread is to get a group buy going for a special size Enkei wheel. If they can make an NT03+M wheel in 17x10 +42-45, then it would satisfy a huge need in the racing community that was previously only able to be fulfilled by expensive Volk or custom order CCW wheels. Sure, it may weigh over 20 pounds, but I'd gladly sacrifice a few pounds over CCWs or Volks to save $1500 or buy two sets for the price of one.

Oh, and FYI the Enkei NT03+M 17x9.5 +38 can be had for ~$1200 brand new. If they can give us .5" more width and a better offset in the +42-45 range, I'd gladly pay a couple hundred dollars more, and I'm willing to bet a whole lot of others would as well.

CKit: I am not sure why you keep saying our demands are unrealistic. We know racing is expensive, but for some reason or another, we are compelled to race S2000's instead of Ferrari's and buy Enkei's instead of Volks. I guess we're just cheap.

On the topic of finding the best offset:
- According to above posts, +38 offset is impossible to fit without extensive fender modification by a body shop. This offset is too low.
- According to my experience as well as others, +48 offset will rub on the inner wheel well. This offset is too high.
- According to Dustin, a 17x9 +45 offset does not contact the inner wheel well. However, we know that the section width will increase by approximately 0.6" (15.24 mm, or 7.62mm on each side) when it is mounted on a 1" wider wheel. Since the tire is rounded on the edges, the tread width will also increase by some proportion of the increase in section width. Maybe 2-3mm on each side?
- Perhaps a +43 offset is the happy medium?

Okay, okay. I'll clean up the thread. I hope they do produce that wheel. I'd buy a set or two.

This thread got de-railed pretty fast lol…I don’t think Enkei will make new sizes and offsets but if they did, that would be AWESOME!

How are most of you bending wheels?
Im pretty sure I have yet to bend a "stock" (not powder coated) aftermarket wheel Including an RPF1

Enkei still makes the 17x9.5+44 Nt03m but its never listed for some reason.....great wheel and easy to fit. Its heavier (~ 20 lbs ea.) than the RPF1 so that may be a turn off to some….PLUS, it will clear any BBK form the looks of it…tons of room in there. I know it clears Brembos for sure. Rx8 and STI forums tend to have these FS used every now and then.

Im not sure where to start on wheel fitment and offset, but spring rates with certain tires make all the difference on how "easy" we can fit these rims. With an NT01 tire, 17x9.5+38 was not hard to fit in front and in the rear….same with a 17x10+38. Especially if you have access to someone like Isaac or Mike Kim, you can get a decent flare on your fenders for little cost. One thing Im not sure on is what sizes and offsets I do not rub the inside wheel well. I want to say I rub with all of them lol

One thing for sure, I do not care for a 17x9 wheel for the track. It works, but its not as good as using a 17x10 or 17x9.5

So much going on in this thread as I type, new thing keep poping up.lol

Ameer makes a good point, while I fit 17x10+38 with a 255 tire NP, others with softer rates may find it hard to do. I get ZERO rubbing in the rear with -3 camber and up front really didn’t require a major roll (but I did get some rubbing on the driver side) with only -3 camber as well.

A 17x10+45 was REALLY easy to fit front and back in regards to fender work…NT03M for under $1500 in this size would be killer!

Thanks for your input, Chris. So you're saying you were rubbing on the inside even with +38 offset?

If they can't make a custom 17x10 +42-45 wheel, I'll be on the hunt for the 17x9.5 +44 NT03+M. Thanks for the heads up on that wheel spec.

As far as Enkei not making custom wheel specs, there is a group buy right now for 17x9.5 +55 NT03+M. I believe that's a custom offset.

Sounds like you could talk them into doing a custom group order for 17x10+42-5 Nam. Why not give it a shot?

Im really unsure and would think I dont under normal track condiditon...but at full lock (going off trackish) I wouldnt be surprised if it did.
When my 17x10+45's come in maybe I can get in there and put some tape down to see if it rubs it off.

This thread is funny..

OP: What would you like

Poster 1: I would like this

Poster 2: you don't want that

Poster 1: umm actually I do want it

Poster 2: but people already make things similar and I want something else so you can't have it

How about we just let people post what they want and leave it at that. If someone wants a 16x12 -20 they can state that is what they would like to see. Whether or not it will get made is another story but I don't think bickering back and forth about it is going to sway anyone.
