ENKEI WHEEL "GROUP BUY" FEELER THREAD

Dustin, try to visualize what is actually contacting the wheel well. It isn't the wheel that is touching the inner wheel well, it is the tire. Let's say you kept the offset exactly the same, but made the wheel 1" wider. The tire would still be centered at exactly where it was before, since the offset hasn't changed. The tire sidewall would be stretched out a bit more, but the inner shoulder would still be in approximately the same position as it was before. Therefore, the clearance has not changed. That is why only the tire width and offset matters when you are talking about clearance between the tire and the inner wheel well. I do acknowledge that the tire width will change a bit when you make the wheel wider, which is why manufacturers state what wheel width the tire was measured on when they give tire width specifications. But adding 1" to the wheel will not magically make the tire width 1" wider.

9 inch width and 255 tires are the maximum allowed in STR competition for autocross. We also can't pull fenders, only roll them flat.. So 17x9 +63 is ideal, especially with high spring rates and not all that much elevation change. And cones don't bend wheels

Really? Really? Enkei already makes PF01 17x9 +60. And TRMotorsport makes the C3 17x9 +62. Both are relatively lightweight and very cheap.
We want a strong, affordable 17x10 +42 wheel. Pretty much nobody besides Volk makes such a wheel. But Volk is about $3000, so I guess that just leaves nobody. This is a huge need in the current market.
I'd bet that a 17x10 +42 NT03+M would sell like hotcakes amongst the tracking community. Would work well for quite a few others cars, as well. Also, since we're making custom requests, if you're making a wheel that is twin-valve, put them on opposite ends of each other like the 949Racing wheels. You can fill/purge with nitrogen gas and it makes checking tire pressures so much easier.

Also why weight doesn't matter too much on the track.
