They are tires that don't tolerate ham-fisted driving. They have a lot of grip, but it doesn't "feel" like they do, so it's very easy to over-drive them. They are very stiff, and put down power very well, but require a different setup and driving style than both the z1 and hankook to get the most out of them.
Also, because the car hooks up better in the rear, most cars will push without setup changes or slower entry speeds. You can get on the gas much sooner however.

"Loves" is a bit strong, but I agree with the metapoint -- big street tires work just fine up front on our cars in stock trim. I hope to have a chance to test a bit this year to see if a slightly smaller tire (say 235 instead of 255) is a bit faster.

I know the Steve Hui loves the 255 up front.

I find i'm only able to do about 2-3 hot laps before they start getting greasy. I think the first gen RE-11 managed heat better, but definitely didn't grip like these do or like RS3s. I'm very curious how the RE-11A will run on track.
I run 35F/R hot PSI - taken right after my cool down lap.
