Default Driving shoes

Been getting into racing, mostly auto x for now, and have been interested in getting some driving shoes. I was looking at the sparco esse shoes and wondering if anyone is running them or there was less expensive options. I am planning on running road corse at some point in the near future too. Any input would be great, thanks in advance.

Depends on if you need fire protection or not. Lots of non-competitive drivers wear Puma Speed Cats or Drift Cats.

Puma speed/future cats for me, they do fine. I have a pair of Piloti's as well but I prefer the Puma's.

Have yet to find a pair of driving shoes that are not too narrow for standard pedals.

I like using my Merrell hiking shoes, I can blip the gas perfect with them on downshifts and they arent too wide to hit the clutch when resting on the dead pedal.

I can drive in pretty much any shoe except for driving shoes: Brooks, Vivo Barefoots, Merrell, dress shoes, and Navy boots.

I had some of the pumas a while ago (Speed cat I think), but didn't like them as much as the old Adidas Goodyear shoes. My current go-to now is my Chuck Taylors, the narrow width and flat sole makes it a great shoe for driving.

Adidas still makes the adi racer, which I think I might buy soon anyway - I want a new pair of white casual sneakers.

Puma Speedcat's for practice.
Sparco Speed+ SL-3 for competition. It's one of their cheaper boots, but I prefer it over their pricier stuff I've tried. Its way more comfy for me and much more flexible.
