is there any benefit to simple cutting out the fender liner behind the air ducts on either the oem bumper or something like the shine one i have? you know...just opening the vents up and pushing air through them.

on the surface it seems like letting all that air in through those vents would be beneficial to cooling the brakes, but at the same time my limited understanding of physics applied to this car tells me it's not best just to let whatever air in under the car unless it's directed like some of you guys have done with DIY setups.

seems like maybe all that air might cause some flow or pressure disturbance or something like that. if that even makes sense

My friend old 911 race car does not have a hose but has a little fin on the a-arm that guide the air to the brake area. So I guess if you engineer it right it should work. For me duct is easier. There are so many topic here. I make one DIY too.

With the wheels we're running, the traditional A-Arm duct hose to brake shield won't work so well. I'll see what the shop can fab up. We might have to compromise and just run a duct to the general area and hope it helps a little.

Race cars have different design objectives. It's pretty common to replace rotors every race, so the only point of having any ducting at all relates to fluid-issues not to somehow lengthening rotor life. My two cents, others may see this differently.

Here's my brake duct how-to: http://www.robrobinette.com/S2000BrakeDucts.htm

I used 2 inch ducting because my air pump is still in place but if I were to do it today I'd use 2 1/2 inch. If you pull your air pump 3 inch would be optimal. With 2 inch hose and my routing my 255's up front do not rub.

Happy New Year, old friend. It warms my heart to see you posting here again.
Harry Cash, how the heck are you? Great to see you on the boards, too. I don't spend much (if any) time reading or posting these days on any of the forums -- EliseTalk, S2Ki, SCCA, Trackpedia, etc. -- but I'm still at my old email address. Drop me a note. I'd love to know what you've been up to (and how you're doing).

This thread has inspired me. I am definitely going to attempt a variation of this with some assistance in the near future.

Hi Harry! I cannot remember the last time I was on S2Ki, but it's nice to see your name. Drop me a note to my email address (it's unchanged). I'd love to know what you've been up to.

All the best,
Christopher (from Beirut)
