Default Differential Wear via Used Oil Analysis

Hey all, I just did another UOA (Used Oil Analysis) on my S2000 when changing out fluids. Engine oil is fine but the Differential fluid is looking worse than before. Here's a brief history of my car...

2006 Honda S2000
Spec'd out for SCCA Solo STR class (still using stock differential). Was pretty much stock until 2011.

2009 - Purchased the car mid June
8/6/2009 : Changed diff fluid with LE1605 (26,500 miles on car)

2009 - Began autocrossing casually. Daily driven

2010 - Picking up autocross intensity, 2 local events per month, attended first Nationals event. Daily driven
3/29/2010 : Changed diff fluid with LE1605 (37k miles on car. 10,634 miles on diff oil)
11/20/2010 : Changed diff fluid to Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-110 (49,668 miles on car. 12,484 miles on oil)

2011 - Missed Nationals but participated in 2 local events/month, 1 Tour and 1 ProSolo. Daily driven

2012 - 2 local events per month, 1 Tour, 1 ProSolo, Nationals
3/10/2012 : Changed diff fluid with Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-110 (65,000 miles on car. 15,332 miles on oil). UOA performed on this oil shown in the report attached.

2013 - Stopped daily driving it in March. 2 local events/month, 1 Tour, 1 ProSolo, Nationals.

2014 - Same as last year...
1/19/2014 : Changed diff fluid with Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-110 (83,388 miles on car. 18,388 miles on oil). I missed my schedule on changing the diff fluid as I try and shoot for 10k-13k miles. UOA performed on this oil shown in the report attached.

Looking to see if anyone else has done UOA on heavily autocrossed S2000s and what oil you've been using. I thought about switching back to LE1605 but I never did a UOA on it. I'm going to dial back to changing the differential fluid once a year since I'm barely even putting 3k miles on the car in a single year now that I have a daily driver.

Here's my Engine oil analysis for those who are curious. I've been using Amsoil 0w-30 for stints of 6500-8500 miles.

Hmmmm... i wonder if the wear is coming from the pinion gear?

Here's a thread with LE1605 oil analysis. It's not a tracked/auto-x car, but it seems to have done better than his old Amsoil diff fluid, fwiw.

Changing the diff fluid every year I guess definitely looks like a good idea base done your UOA.

My girlfriend wrote your report
Everytime an s2000 sample comes in I get a text and wonder who it is LOL
I have a daily driver s2000 and run LE in the diff but change it about 5k just to be safe, I'll be sending another in shortly with about 6k miles and with a full season of autox on it(16 events, usually 5-7 runs and I usually do the "fun runs" so figure about 120-150 runs) I'll post up when I get it back to compare

Nice. I sent in an engine oil and diff oil analysis for my racecar early last week. Going to call right now...

update - they're doing the analysis of the engine oil today

Where can we send in samples to be tested? cost? Where can we pick up the vile to put the sample in (will anyone do?). I would like to send in a sample of my motor oil.

Thanks.

Awesome, thanks for the sample comparison.

Hah, small world! Please let me know how the LE is running in your car with all the autox time on it. I'm thinking about switching it back after SlowTeg posted his results of Amsoil and LE1605.

We used to run the Millers CRX BM 80-140w in problematic diffs to keep the wear down for Safari events, which worked wonders - doubling the service life wasn't uncommon.
It's since been upgraded to 75-140w CRX NT, which is based on their new nanotech range - haven't had it in anything long enough to confirm the durability but I will say when we did all 3 diffs on an old Fouquet we had it quietened all the diff chatter/noise down and it made nearly 10hp more at the wheels just from an oil change - unfortunately it got sold shortly after so I don't know what the wear life is like, but all the guys over here running the NT reckon it's even better than the old formulation for gear/dog life.
