Cyro treated rotors

Cyro treated rotors
I am planning to buy some new rotors for street, autox and track use. I see that tirerack now offers cryo treated rotors. I have read that they last 3 times longer. So I am wondering if that is really true and if its worth it to spend the extra money on them. I priced it out and blanks are aprox $200 for all 4 wheels vs the cryo of the same brand is about $300 for all 4.
Worth it or not?

I got cryo-treated on a whim. It's not much more than a regular rotor from them. Can't say it's stood up 3 times longer but, they have taken a beating on track and they still look and work fine. They've handled track use FAR better than the Napas which lasted 3 track days.
This was on my 280 HP WRX which is a heavy pig that tops out about 135 on summit point main. I'd say they're at least as good as stock which cost 3 times more.
I swap rotors at least once a year and was looking for something that could handle a season before needing replacement. These seem to do it.

Yeah, that's my thought, I want OEM wear at a lower price. Still the S2K rotor seems pretty cheap.
Centic premium is $55.
Centic Cryo is $81.
OEM is $96
DBA 4000's are only $118.
For that minuscule difference in price, the choice is probably which ever is easier to get. I'll probably try the DBA's next time around. I think the centric premium is the same ones that NAPA was selling which means I won't use them again.

Seems like alot of here-say. I was speaking of my actual experience with cryo rotors. psychoazn and I have actually tried them and like them and the naysayers...haven't. If cryo-treating gets me ONE more track day. It's paid for itself. As far as I'm concerned, just the hassle of swapping rotors is worth the $56 difference in price for a pair over the cheapest rotors and they're still $30 a pair cheaper than OEM. So, even if they're only as good as OEM, they're still a better choice.

Cryo treated blanks (centric) from tirerack were cheaper than OEM, and I've been doing pretty well with them.
I had alot of cracking on DBA 4000 rotors on my Legacy GT and was not that impressed that and how quick pads wore with slotted rotors. I won't waste my money on DBA again

Lets just keep in mind that the legacy GT makes good power, weighs 300 lbs more than an STI and has smaller brakes than an STI. I will keep your DBA comments in mind though. You're not the first one I've heard that from. What tracks were you running?
I think slotted rotors are snake oil, not cryo treatment.
