Comptech front sway bar for the 04.
I'm looking to see if the 04 needs a front sway bar. I'm getting the alignment this Friday so should improve the characteristics of the car. The next step are the Koni yellows on OEM springs (to stay in A stock) and finally R-comp. tires.
If you have the Comptech bar what's your opinion?

I have one on an '01 so the settings would likely change since you can use wider tires. However, you should read the autocross FAQ at the top of this forum for starters. You're going in the right direction but don't forget seat time. You can go marginally faster as you make the changes above but you'll go LOTS faster with experience.

I drove an 04 this weekend on A3S03's and tried to drive it much the same way I drive my 03 with Comptech bar and I just got lots of wheel spin. So I'd say the car could benefit from one.

An '04 stock has no wheelspin on OEM street tires. It does have wheelspin with R tires, but a front bar will completely eliminate it. How much bar you will need depends on what tires/surface you run on. But I would say the '04 doesn't need a front bar if you are staying on street tires, but once you change to the Konis/R compound tires, change the bar at the same time.
