I just put my Hoosiers, Jack, and tools in my tire trailer and drive to the track. In fact I don't even have to upack the tire trailer between events! My drive is 80 miles each way for Autocross, and around 150 miles each way for Road Courses.

I always carry the OEM spare tire as I would not want to destroy a $200 Hoosier on the street. I also carry the OEM jack as a backup jack to my aluminum floor jack. My tire trailer has a spare tire mounted on the tongue. The trailer also has a Tongue Jack, and the heavy drawbar part of my hitch comes off with two quick-pins when I reach my destination.

The trailer serves as a nice dry, secure locker at the track to store my stuff.

Ultimately, I think that the trailer is the best bet if you're serious, and can afford it. Part of the reason I haven't been to the DC event is that I'm unwilling to drive 240 miles with the limited visibility imposed by tires loaded in the car. That and the fact that I just can't afford to buy new Hoosiers for one event where I'd finish out of the trophies anyway.

Chris- I like your trailer!

Is that a kit trailer with a cargo box on it? What box did you use? Any chance you can share a picture showing it loaded with the box open?

I'm in the process of putting together a trailer and would prefer a closed box over leaving the tires out in the open.

It's a sportscar/motorcyle trailer. It holds my Hoosiers (225/245), a floor jack, and tools. I added some OEM options such as upgraded bearings with grease fittings, interior tie downs, a spare tire and tire cover with tongue mounting bracket, and a fitted heavy grade vinyl cover to protect the trailer body when it is stored. It includes everything as well as a locking lid.

This trailer is a turn-key trailer, not a kit. It is the Sport-Tote model from TN Tailers in Indiana. The total cost including shipping to RI was around $1000 (shipping was around $150 and the trailer around $850).

At the time I decided to buy the Sport-Tote I had first considered buying the Harbor Freight trailer kit and mounting custom aluminum boxes to hold everything including the tires out of the sunlight and weather. However the boxes ended up being prohibitively expensive due to the size of the tires, would have ended up being a much heavier tow/tongue weight, and frankly would not have looked as nice behind my car. Accordingly, I went with the Sport-Tote rather than building my own.

Unfortunately, it is currently stored out back in my woodshed right now surrounded by heavy equipment, racks of drying firewood, and snow. There is no other photo opportunity until spring. You can check for info on the web at:

I was hoping that it was a separate cargo box, as I already have a trailer. I would still like to see interior pics someday. Maybe I'll sell mine someday and upgrade.

The best I can do for now is another picture from the outside, although this picture shows the tongue jack stand and the spare tire better.

Wanna trailer???

I have the HF trailer I bought for the Del sol and put about 1000 miles on it over the last 2 years....Currently has a box, jack setup, spare tire and locks. Is the 12" tire option....Needs to have straps updated but otherwise in good condition..except for that pesky autox4u sticker on the back of it that won't come off.....Pass this on to Tom also...

Looking to get $300 for it complete including jack...
