so with the theory that simple is better we are going to patch up the holes from underneath, and then put the intake in the wheel well without making direct air flow to it just picking up the cooler air away from engine down low.

I wouldn't patch the holes, I'd just put a deflector on the leading edge and sides like the picture above. And the deflector should be taller than the back edge of the hole in the hood. That should make it an effective vent in motion.

Do you think it would be nessesary to donut on both sides then? I don't have much time but part of me is tempted to model this out with a small box and smoke/fan lol!

There's a low pressure area on top of the hood due to its shape. That's why a simple hole in the hood works for cooling airflow and reduced lift. Louvers or at least a raised leading edge does help extract air from under the hood.
Note the light blue low pressure area over the hood:
With that giant turbo the op will need all the cooling he can get (including a big oil cooler--this is a must) so keeping the intake suction away from the cooling airflow is desirable. I know this is heresy but the best solution is a raised hood scoop and a sealed airbox. The low pressure area above the hood reduces the effectiveness of hood NACA ducts so reaching up into the airflow is a good way to get pressurized cold air. If you don't want to do that I'd go with the fender well. I wouldn't recommend trying to get air from under the splitter because if it's working it will create a low pressure area under it.

If i do the current flap in front and around vents should I cut vents on other side of hood and copy to have some sort of balance?
Planning to just put intake in fender well and will read iat's and adjust as nessesary.
Robrob I am always referring back to your blog and appreciate your input. A lot of it especial with airflow is over my head but I have taken a ton of your suggestions! By the way no turbo in this car anymore just supercharger. I do have a big oil cooler vmountd with heat exchanger in front of radiator so neither
block air to the radiator which is a dual pass by the way!
