Cobalt Spec VR Pads

Cobalt Spec VR Pads
My spec VR's have 4 track days on them. Although they still have plenty of pad left, the surface, though smooth, looks marbled. I assume from heat.
Also, there's a chip at the top of one of them about an inch wide. The chip is not uniform in depth. It tapers to about 1/16th at the deepest point.
Are these still good to go or do I trash them? Thanks for any comments.

They're fine; heat cracks are normal. Run 'em to the backing plates.

If you try to extract maximum life from brake pads note that they wear more quickly when worn than when new. Less pad material means less mass to absorb heat. Check your pads often, expecially towards the end of their life. Also, I find that the inboard pads wear slightly faster than the outboard pads.
In the interest of safety, I never run pads lower than 2-3 mm. There is simply too much at stake to be cheap about braking.
