Default Chase Race Hitch & Aftermarket Exhaust

I am installing a Chase Race Hitch next week so I can tow my R Comps to Auto X events next year. My question is for people who currently have this set-up. I am running in A-Stock, and I would like to upgrade my exhaust over the winter. What aftermarket Singles or Duals work with this hitch?? I was hoping some of the guys who run in the Nationals could chime in, as I am looking for the exhaust with the best HP and weight reductions that will work with this hitch!!! Thanks for any and all suggestions.

OEM works. (That's what I have.) So obviously anything that stays strictly within the envelope of the OEM exhaust would be OK. There's almost no room the the mufflers to go any further back.

Talk with Doug. He's very knowledgeable, and very helpful. And, besides, if he needs to examine the matter, I live five minutes from him, and I'd be happy to drive over for him to examine it (the hitch is still on my car from summer autox, although I plan to take it off soon).

I can tell you that a Magnaflow cat back does NOT work with this hitch. I tried it. I've now got a brand new Magnaflow cat back sitting in the garage that I have to sell.

The Magnaflow mufflers come out of the car at a bit of an angle - they're not completely parallel with the centerline of the car, rather, they point outwards a bit. This was a large part of the fit problem. So, any exhausts that are built like this (the J's Ti dual on evasivemotorsports.com that I was lusting after comes to mind) I would consider suspect.

I ended up having a custom exhaust place lop off the factory cans and replace them with a couple Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers - 2" offset inlet, center outlet. A little louder, a little lighter, very stealth looking, and inexpensive. For better or worse, I'm one of those guys who insisted on having dual exits, because I just like the way the car looks with them on there. I reused the factory tips.

Just a note: I think Doug's out of town for a month or so, so don't get miffed if he doesn't reply to mail promptly.

any muffler that angles will not fit. anything similar to stock like comptech, apexi ws, greedy with the sports-type mufflers should have enough clearance to clear the rear brackets. FYI, the j's 60rs muffler is probaly one of the smallest out there, but it didnt fit becuase of the slight angle exiting the bumper. the muffler will rest on the bracket. if the bracket was 1 inch more to the left, it would have been golden.

Thanks for the replies ! I am trying to get as many options as possible so I can make an educated decision based on fact and experience, not opinion or here say . So keep them coming! And again...Thanks!

Btw; I just finished installing the hitch, pretty straight foward, just need to buy 2 new pushpin clips from honda for under the car. Doug was right, they broke!! But I am going to buy a bag of them, because rumor has it I will go through a bunch of these w/ my 245 R Comps in the front
