Default Centering Rings are they Needed?

Ok so I just put my new wheels and tires on today. I got enkei rpf1's 17x9 all the way around with 255/40/17 all the way around. Jim at tire rack was telling me that with the centering rings the rear wheels would not fit on the front but they do, so i have no idea if i have them on there right. Do i even need centering rings? Also ive seen plenty of people with 17x9 all the way around and their wheels dont stick out from the fenders. On mine the rear is fine however the front stick out from the fender about a cm is this because of the centering rings? I think tire rack didnt give me the right rings for the front any insight would be much appreciated thanks!

Try posting your question in the Wheels and Tires forum.

Wrong section. But 17x9 front do stick out past the f. fenders w/o rings. No rings needed. Once all of the lugs are snug, bolt the wheels down using a star pattern.

Your saying with rings they should not stick out? The reason i posted here is because i will be tracking the car!

If you have stock fenders, the wheels will stick out past the fender. You should roll your fenders. Don't worry what you are describing sounds normal.

Centering rings are not spacers. Get some negative camber on those bishes.

The centering rings are not necessary. You can go without them. The rings are there to help make it easier to properly mount the rim to the hub. The rings will help eliminate any play between the hub and rim while you put the lug nuts back on.
