Take them off! The tech form you sign says you removed them, at least around here. More importantly, being careless with risking potential damage to other people's cars on track is not cool.

After talking w/DaGou today we came up with this.. it's a hub centric ring/center cap plug thing. This is a rough sketch I did real quick like but it'll fit in from the back side of the wheel just like a hub centric ring but extend out to also be a center cap. It'll be hollow for axle nut clearance and weight saving.

We'll be doing a small run of these, they should fit most volk wheels. If anyone wants a set let me know, the more we make the cheaper they are.

I forgot to take mine out before a track day last year and lost the two fronts and the rears fit pretty loose now. One of my friends ended up finding one of my front caps and said it looked like a melted mess. Hot brakes are hot.

otherwise take them off. i'd hate to be the guy who has your center cap fly into their windshield...

CCW's caps mount from behind. Even if the rubber O-ring melts, they can't pop through. However, if you get their race wheels, they don't allow for center caps.

So along these same lines, what about the centering rings? My RPF1s have plastic ones and the shop actually lost 2 when balancing so now I need to purchase new ones. Will these melt as well? Should I get aluminum ones? He'll do I even need them?

Depending on price, I'd be interested in a set for some TSW wheels. I measured the diameter to be ~62mm (Think it was 61.8mm to be exact). Honestly though the prudent thing seems to be just remove them for track days.

The center caps on my Volk do not come off easily (read as not with out significant brute force requiring a wooden handle/dowel and an engineer's hammer). I've taken them through about 8 sessions on the track and they still will not budget without feeling like they're going to break or launch out of the rims like a missile.

If yours can be removed easily, you might as well take them off for the track since they're no benefit out there and all liability.
