Last weekend went from the most depressing trackday ever (Friday) to possibly the highest (Sat) I've ever had. I finally got the gearbox fixed by late Sat morning. I pulled it apart twice, and finally figured out the problem... I had made a total of three mistakes in swapping the gears in a rush the weekend before. So I had only 2nd and 4th gears on Friday (turned out I had installed 3rd and 4th in the wrong order , and tightened the pinion and layshaft nuts in the wrong order, then used too long a cotter pin in one that got sheared.... that's why so depressing, mistakes I can't blame on anyone else ).
But on Sat I bought my first set of NEW tires, and promptly took 5 seconds off to qualify midpack in laptime for the Radical Enduro (BTW, the Radical SR3 is samilar weight with 50-60 more HP, and some of the guys were much faster than me). Track config was 25 CCW, and my top gear was a bit short and was redlining before the end of the long back straight. I had planned to just run the first half (my car has a 5-gal fuel cell under the bodywork that has to be removed to fill, and not designed for endures), but I made the craziest decision 20 minutes before the race to do the full hour-long endure . Two guys, Brent and Rob, agreed to help out, and I rushed to get my gas bottle and screwdriver to remove the engine cover, to the hotpit. About 15 Radical SR3

What was the advice given?
It seems like that advice will probably help me too.

Wow, great stuff, Richard! Can't imagine an hour at full attack in that car - makes me exhausted just reading about it!
So it was the Stohr that won the invitational class?
Be sure to post some video!

^^Saw that beast at Tony Fuchs'.
Marty, what times where you posting with Sunday's configuration?
Mik3: That really works. I was too busy behind the wheel in the beginning. I dropped my times considerably by being smoother.
