Krazik, I'm thinking about going to the Laguna Seca event. I need to rearrange some other commitments to free up the day. Is Laguna a place where a weekend wally like me can have some fun? I noticed the SV description recommended it for intermediate drivers and I'm pretty much a nub.

Absolutley. I took my dad out there a year ago for his first ever trackday. Sure there are walls, but if you drive within your limits its all fine.
If you want, you can park your car up here at my place and fly in/out of San Jose airport.
Also NASA is running Sears Point the Sat/Sun following.

Where can I get details on the NASA event? Should I do that event or big willow? I want to do as many events as possible out here before I drive the car back to Utah in Mar.

But I grabbed a good instructor for my first session, and he really helped me get over the intimidation of the track and just remember to drive. He also gave me some key visual reference points.
The next three sessions were all pure fun, some of the best track sessions I've ever done.
