Honestly...you'd be better off just continuing to save your money until you have enough to buy a system that will actually improve your shock performance over OEM. Sure, lowering your roll center will make the car FEEL more planted, but most budget coilovers don't have the piston performance of our OE shocks.

Wait until you can afford KW clubsports or Ohlin DFVs (a steal right now at $2300 a set). Anything less really will be a waste of money in the long run. That said, if you can find a low mileage set of CR shocks and put some Swift Spec R springs on them, that would be a very nice, and cost effective upgrade.

Ohlins >>>> KW v3...I had both, and the Ohlins made the KWs feel like cut springs on blown shocks.

thanks red celica. Just seeing what deal I can get from the forum sponsors and will most likely pull the trigger.

Of these two, which one has a better quality dampener and which one will generally last longer before a needing a rebuild?
Ohlins for both, though KW are double-adjustable, which is nice. Ohlins are also quite a bit lighter and can be easily serviced or custom valved by independent shock builders like PSI.

Lots of used KW v3s floating around, though, which can bring the price of entry down nicely.

There were some black friday deals for Ohlins which made them less than $2300. That is when I picked a set up. Awaiting a free weekend to do the install. I've also recently seen a S2ki sponsor advert Ohlins DFV on their site for just around $2k even... The site's URL starts with a "M" and ends with "tion". So that I don't ruin it for all I'm not going to explicitly name them. But the owner is quite active here on s2ki especially over at the S2000 Modifications and Parts" Sub forum.

I took a look at the Fortune Auto 510v5. Looks interesting. I thought the price would be a lot less only to find them to be around the same price as Ohlins.

One thing to note, I've seen some really fancy Motons/Penske shocks for sale here on s2ki. They didn't seem to move or garner much interest... So if you are after resale value, looks like Ohlins fetch the most.

Disagree
If you know anything about shocks they garnered your interest.

Try and find some really fancy Motons/Penskes that are still actually for sale. I've contacted the sellers of just about all of them, and they're all gone.

I playing with idea of selling my motons, but not sure I could part with them, lol. Prolly $3500 to get me to say goodbye. Not even sure about that. Double adjustable with 7 positions that each make a difference, SOS spherical bearing top hats, hyperco 900/750 springs.
