Default BSP Suspension Baseline

Hello All,

I need a little guidance. I have done quite a bit of searching but haven't been able to find enough knowledge for my specific setup and would love some help with a good point to start regarding my new suspension setup. I'm making the move from BS to BSP this year to step up the level of competition and push my limits, after a good amount of success the last 2 seasons at large (non-national tour) events.

Here is my new setup:
MY05 AP2
285 square R-comps on 18x10.5s
Gendron Monster FSB 1.375"
Stock Rear Bar
KW3 shocks with 515lb springs (for now)
Shooting for around 13" ride height F/R, maybe slightly higher in the rear.
Camber 3 front and max I can get in the rear without offset joints...2.5?

I'm looking for some guidance on compression/rebound settings for the 515lb springs or I have been considering jumping to 12-13kg springs up front. I know the KW3s may not be able to handle those springs but also read here that +200lbs may be ok.

Suspension tuning is new to me but I have done the most due diligence I can without reaching out to the community.

Thanks in advance.

Brad

honestly,...if you can, ditch them KW's, otherwise you will be pretty much maxed out on your settings even trying to get it where you want it.

It was the best I could get for my price point. Life is compromise. Motons or penskes were not in the build budget. I figured i could make them work for now and get them revalved down the road if necessary. That said, they are sitting on my dining room table still if you have a better recommendation. If I get a set of 9" wheels instead of ccws then I could float more in shocks but wide wheels/tires seem to be just as high on the list.

No on 9" wheels....run a little more bar and go with larger wheels/tires. My guess is on 10.5's w/ 285 A6's you are going to bury the tire in the wheel well on a 500lb spring...don't know for sure, though.

looks like youv got a pretty easy one there sprout.
Baseline setup with provided info.
change front springs to 750ish
Front bar on full soft.
In a week or two i will have my shock dyno back and i will send you some baseline settings to match up the kw with the valving range i like for those wheel rates
front == camber 3.5*, minimum caster, 1/32" toe out per side, oem fender height from hub 13"
Rear == camber 3.0, 3/32" toe in per side, oem fender height from hub 12.5" (any higher and i would recommend a softer rear bar)

you will be ok on those shocks for a bit, they arent bad, just will be missing the last little bit

Robert,

Are you going to stay with the wide rear wheels/tires this year? Obviously it was fast, but I wonder how much time the 30-20mm per wheel is costing you in distance if can get nearly the same lateral grip out of 285s or 295s.

Lateral grip is still slightly better on the 315's, they offer better gearing and corner exit as well.

Looks like my OP was inaccurate with springs rates. The KW3s come with 8kg (456lb) springs now, not 515s. Not sure if I should pony up to increase the rears as well. I'm going to order springs sometime today for the front. I'm thinking it doesn't make that much of a difference to buy rear springs now.

I'm not sure how happy OTS V3's will be with a 750lb spring...?
