I'm going to bet most of your understeer issues will disappear when you get some camber in the front. The VCMC FR-S was testing -4 degrees front camber for autocross and was still seeing even temps to slightly higher outside temps for the front tires. -4 was too much for braking, so they backed it off some.. but it just goes to show how little dynamic camber gain is available with the strut front suspension.
That was on 255 width Hankook RS-3, lowered on KW V3 with a higher front spring rate. Vorschlag Camber Plates.

Better to use lap times as a metric rather than adding width at one end until the other end feels squirrelly, repeat at other end, ad infinitum. That method ensures that you'll always add width whether it actually helps overall speed or hurts it!

AutoX cars can use more camber since the braking zones are so short. Guy Arkeny showed up at the last AutoX I ran and his S2k was sporting -5deg of camber in front. My road race car has -3.5deg in front (can reduce by 10% with roll center correction).
I'm curious whether the FRS would exhibit the same stady-state understeer on sticky tires.

That and anything wider than 8" is virtually non-existent in 5x100 17"The power gap is impressive considering the s2000 had a 200# passenger. Imagine how bad it would look if you moved the passenger from the S to the BRZ.
The S seemed to transition much more quickly through the esses... Does it?
