Racing pads in the front and stock in the back? You will over work the front pad and cause them to over heat.
No you wouldn't.

But you will overheat the rears.

And if might affect the brake bias, since you will have more clamping force in the fronts compared to the rear.

I've run XP8s front/OEM AP1 rear. No problems for my utterly stock '01 on Kumho VR's. Definitely a damn sight better than stock/stock!

was this from carbotech directly? I haven't called them but i priced it out at 949racing and it was $698~ish i believe. and only one set of rotors. is carbotech direct that much cheaper?

also is it true i can just used my current rotors?
i heard carbotech offers a small discount for mentioning s2ki over the phone or something if you order straight from them. dont count me on it.

I just said from my experience. I over heat the front pad and turn the front rotors blue on the outside edge. Now I make brake duct which drop about 200F. So everything is ok for now.

Cobalt XR2 front XR5 rear have been working out good for me just make sure you swap back to oe pads for street use though the pad material can stick to the wheels.

I ordered from Greg @ gtmotoring

Lots of noise good bite but they can't withstand the heat at the track

I used haks with ducting and they were good for track days HPDE , For a beginner they were fine , this year I switched to r comps and xp12/xp10 . If you cant afford 30 bucks for rotors maybe you picked the wrong hobby. Dont sell your self short get the rotors at the same time from carbotech directly .

I've run the HP+ a couple of times (they're on the front of the car now in fact), and they've worked GREAT for me. Killer coefficient of friction, way higher than XP8s, and even in stone cold New England temps on the street. At the track or on the street I get a TON more braking with a lot less pedal movement and effort.

They probably won't take as much heat as "real" track pads, but for my track days/time trials usage (max continuous track usage ~20 minutes), I've never had a problem with them.

I'm not an expert, but certainly not a beginner, btw. I do ~ 8-10 track days per year since ~1999 and have won 5 time trial championships (2 in the S) with COMSCC.
[edit: actually, I guess I *am* an expert as I do instruct, but I know that I'm nowhere near the level of professional or the top half of club-level racers]

Totally stock AP1 on 2nd-tier R-comps (Kumho VR and Ecsta V700s).

It is worth pointing out that equally experienced/talented drivers, running similar track times, can have VERY different kinds of braking usage. At the very HIGHEST levels of motorsport (F1), different drivers in the SAME CAR often prefer DIFFERENT brake compounds!

So you can't go by how fast or experienced a driver is. What works for some may not work for others.
