Garrett, that's exactly why you should come down to Atlanta. You could take a break from the duties of chairing and just enjoy the sport like when you weren't all up in it's butt. You know, roll in, change the tires, register, walk the course, work start or something chill and just have fun.

I'm just getting more and more excited about the 225 (245 for real) S02s all around. Oooooohhh

Could you fit anything wider than a 245 in the rear, or on the stock rims? I want to go as wide as possible.

I can't justify Motons and I do like stock settings on the rear shocks, but as everyone knows the AP1's have too much oversteer. I plan to get the Gendron solid bar, but I would also like to run a fairly agressive alignment and I'm afraid that if I don't have enough tire in the back that I'll still have too much oversteer.

I drove a friend's AP2 at the last autocross, and holy crap. His car was so stable, easily a faster car than my current setup. The tires just aren't good enough for the stock settings.

He must've meant 225/50's. Azenis are coming in 225/50/16 and 215/45/16's right now. That could be a decent setup. It seems like I heard that they don't do as well on heavy cars though. Anybody else heard that?

Here's some numbers off of Bridgestone, Kumho, and Falken's websites:

Bridgestone S02 (225/50/16 for S2K) - 9.2" overall section width
Kumho MX (225/50/16) - 9.2" overall section width
Falken Azenis RT-615 (225/50/16) - 9.0" overall section width

All pretty comparable sizes. They all weigh ~25 lbs. They're all 92W load/speed rated. All 24.8 or 24.9" diameter.

Hmmm, Are these tires really that bad? Weren't there a bunch of people running the street tire classes at Nationals running these?

I haven't really looked at the ST classes at Nationals this year, but I believe that MX's and Azenis clean up those classes for the most part.

Now you're opening up a completely different can of worms. Are you planning to run AS? If so forget 17" wheels.

If you want to go R-compounds, I'd suggest the new Hoosier. If you're competing locally, maybe the VictoRacers would be enough? There's a whole Auto-X FAQ for this stuff though, which I'd recommend before we get too far repeating all that stuff in this thread.
