Bassem,

I've been thinking about the S2000 for a while, yesterday I rented a Spec Miata, as the Ultima needed tuning. Oh the joys of a new car...

I'm not looking for a racecar, but to be honest the car would be driven to the track, raced, driven home and that's about it. It would be a 4th car. Two track cars and two daily drivers. Usually my wife drives as well, so we split the track car. This would allow us to have two track cars. Then we just fight over who drives which one!

Krakik/Bassem/Rlaifatt/ et all,

Thanks for the advice. The tire cost is not that big of an issue, minor rubbing is ok, but it all must be bulletbroof. AKA, the rubbing can't be so bad that you have to stop, or cut a tire. I'm looking for the best bang for the buck so to speak. I've been doing this a long time, and rollbar, seats, harness is all a given. My best a time at Laguna is a 1:37 in a Diasio.

So for a modest investment (lets say 5K), what is the best bang for the buck on wheels, suspension, etc...??? From what I've gathered, unless your going something nice like Moton/JRZ/Penske the shocks are pretty good? Brakes seem up to the task with racepads?

I was thinking CCW's 18x9 and 18x10 with Toyo RA1's. I copyed this from Krazik. Imitation is the best form of flattery right? If this is a really bad fit then 234/255????

255/40 17's on 17" x 9" Volk CE28N rims, all four corners is what I might switch to from the 18" CCW's. I suspect that this will have severe oversteer tendency with the stock suspension, however. A very good set up is the 235/275 17 or 235/255 17 on a standard set of Volk CE28N (17 x 7.5 front and 17 x 9 rear, what I have on the white car with 235/275 RA1's). Stock brakes are more than adequate. I am a stong believer in a wing, especially if you go with 223/255 or 255/255. The racecars with 245/275 18's all use wings also.

Tony for the rollbar?

So in final:

KW variant 3 $2000
CCW 18x9 and 18x10 wheels $2000
(I would use the 3 piece as halves are replaceable)
Toyo RA1's $1050
Rollbar $800? Elda???
Rear bumpsteer kit $465

I believe the 245/275 18's will rub unless you roll in the inner lips of the fenders and have lots of negative camber (-3 to -4), especially with stock suspension (soft and can't get enough camber). The Volks are probably less than $2000 a set, and much lighter, especially combined with the 17" tires.

Oh, for seats the Recaro SPG on sliding Taitec rails is one of the better fitting seats. Need to add these and harness to your budget.

How do you figure? I ran them on my street car. Yes I rolled the inner front lip only partly. The work just fine w/o rubbing on the sides. Only rubbing on the top middle which as I said 3x now is a result of spring rates not tires sizes.

?

I strongly recommend the 1pc over 3pcs. Yes you can replace the halfs on the 3pcs, but the 1pcs are VERY VERY strong and you'll bend 2 sets (including the centers) on the 3pc wheels before you do the same on the 1pcs. Talk to john at ccw about the test numbers. They're A lot stronger.

And yes tony on the roll bar since you're in the area (www.tcdesignfab.com).
