Autocross tire life?
Hi all,
I'm thinking of running the whole autocross season this year, and doing it on competition rubber (or as much as I can afford, which in this case means VictoRacers).
I'm wondering if I can get a full season out of them. Obviously this depends alot on course layout, length, surface, etc. But ballpark, how many events do you think a set of shaved Kumho's will last?

Ok, that's ballpark enough for me. I was just wondering if I was going to end up having to foot the bill for another set of tires halfway through the year, but it doesn't sound like it.
Thanks!

I did 22 events including a Test and Tune (many runs) last year. I'm not showing cord, the the tires were going away a bit at the end. I'm buying new tires this year - part of the yearly budget and all. Victos here.
I'm don't compete nationally though, just local stuff.

Here's my bad tire story.
1. Old road course built 20-30 years ago. (http://www.azbrscca.org/pinal_022904.html)
2. Nearly brand new RE050 (Stock on 04 S2000) 800 miles on them
3. Great day, lots of fun, 16 runs/laps.
4. End of day... Nearly bald tires.
Point of the story. Never run on a course which has bad asphalt conditions.

As copied off the Tire Rack web site:
The Kumho V700 features an asymmetric tread design molded at 5/32" to 6/32" of tread depth in its two major circumferential grooves. It can be run at full tread depth for autocross competition or shaved to between 3/32" to 4/32" of tread depth for competitive road racing.

Bran new set of Rear Victoracers full tread..... 2 events till the cords popped out less then 24 runs. 1st event was Concrete (fairly new) second event was nice well kept ashalt. Tires were new and soft between the 2 drivers we just plain used em up. The only way I see people getting more then 3 or 4 events out of a set is if they are let get hard then they don't wear very quickly and of course will last forever. But then you essentially have Treadless Street tires. You have to ask yourself if a Hard tire with lots of rubber left on it is still any good. I recently through on a set of rear Victoracers (after cording the rear hoosiers I needed tires to do a couple laps) These victoracers were Completely bald. I pulled them off the S2000 I was borrowing 2 years ago cause I though one lap around the block would make them show cords. Well we put them on the back. They were worse then street tires but 4 laps later looked exactly the same as they looked when I put them on. Sooo TO anwser your question. If you keep them soft enough to win on and drive the car well enough to use em. 3-4 events. If you let them get hard they will last you till the cows come home but won't grip for anything.
