Thanks for all of the info guys!
I just prepared my car on Friday for Watkins Glen this week. It was great seeing an actual race there televised on TNT (NASCAR).
I installed the Potterfields and Super Blue brake fluid and then took my car out to test the brakes. Drove maybe 4 miles with lots of light braking to try and smooth out the pad surfaces. When I finally stopped, I could feel the heat coming off the calipers with my hand several inches away. After 5 minutes, I noticed the wheels (spokes) were hot, very hot! They were so hot that I couldn't believe it. My initial thoughts were that the pads were stuck to the rotors. I pulled the front wheels, checked for friction by free-spinning the rotors. I even pulled off the pads and re-applied the lube. Seemed like everything was in order.
Honda-s2k and I are contemplating pulling the caps off for our 2-day track event. Has anyone heard of stook owners melting the caps?
Thanks.
